Diabetes Management Services
The Diabetes Management Services at Crockett Hospital is here to help you successfully manage your diabetes through proper monitoring, medications, and nutrition management.
With expert guidance from our registered and registered dietitian, who specialize in diabetes training, our goal is to teach individuals with diabetes and their families everything they need to know about diabetes. Promoting self-management skills and maintaining good health are crucial factors in keeping diabetes under control.
Because diabetes is a broad disease effecting different people, different ways, Crockett Hospital has designed outpatient classes to meet the individual needs of each diabetic.
A one-day outpatient class designed for individuals who are type 2 non-insulin dependent diabetes, who may be taking insulin, require a plan for nutrition, weight loss, exercise, oral medication, self-blood glucose monitoring and complication management.
For type 1 individuals who require daily injections of insulin and a self-care plan of nutrition, weight loss, exercise, self-blood glucose monitoring, insulin injections, and complication management, a three-day outpatient treatment class is available.
When it comes to insulin therapy, our two-hour class helps the diabetic understand the different kinds of insulin, how insulin works in the body, and how to use insulin properly.
Nutrition is vital in managing diabetes. Our two-hour class helps each diabetic learn to make better choices to control their glucose levels.
Gestational diabetes classes help women who have developed diabetes during their pregnancy. Our four-to-six hour classes prepare moms to-be for their special day, focusing on managing the diabetes and keeping them and their baby as healthy as possible before delivery. A special pregnancy plan for nutrition, exercise, insulin therapy, self-blood glucose monitoring and complication management are all provided.
