Cardiac Calcium Scoring CT Now at Crockett Hospital

Crockett Hospital is proud to offer Cardiac Calcium Scoring exams to its patients.
Cardiac Calcium Scoring exams are an outpatient test that require no medication or IV access, and can quickly and painlessly evaluate the calcified or "hard" plaque that affects a patient's coronary arteries. These results can tell a person the relative risk they may have for Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). If you have concerns about your relative coronary risk, ask your physician if you are a candidate for Cardiac Calcium Scoring CT.
Many factors can increase a person's risk for heart disease, including age, weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking. It is estimated that 1 in 3 adults, both men & women, have some form of cardiovascular disease. In 90% of adults that have a massive "heart attack" or sudden cardiac death, two or more major coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked.
For a large number of patients, the first and only symptom of heart disease is a fatal heart attack. Calcium Scoring CT is an innovative and important tool in the assessment of your risk factors for heart disease and CAD. Remember it is in the early or initial stage that heart disease is much more treatable.
