CERTIFIED
REHABILITATION REGISTERED NURSE (CRRN) Since
Crockett hospital Rehabilitation Unit opened in March 1997, it has been a
combined effort of Crockett Hospital administration and the rehabilitation
staff to provide Lawrence County and surrounding areas with the most
comprehensive rehabilitation available.
Continuing with that effort, Jack Buck, Crockett Hospital CEO, is
pleased to announce that four registered nurses have successfully
completed rehabilitation certification or the CRRN exam. Mr.
Buck states, “It is the goal of every acute rehabilitation unit to have
one CRRN on staff, but Crockett is exceedingly pleased to have four of
these skilled professionals.” Those
sitting for the certification exam were Joannie Kimbrell, RN, Program
Director; Carolyn Wright, RN, Admissions Case Coordinator; Susan Copeland,
RN, Nurse Supervisor; Valerie Henson, RN, Charge Nurse. Rehabilitation
nursing is a unique nursing specially whose practitioners operate with a
common body to knowledge, skills, and attitudes about nursing and about
disability. Rehabilitation
nurses help people manage their disability and to lead fulfilling and
productive lives. The
Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) developed the Certified
Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) program in 1984 to promote a level
of expertise in rehabilitation nursing practice.
The program provided a standard for recognizing qualifications and
validating specialized knowledge to enhance the care of person affected by
disability and chronic illness. The
program promotes expertise in rehabilitation nursing by encouraging
professional growth and individual study by the rehabilitation nurse.
Also by recognizing the attainment and application of a defined
body of rehabilitation nursing knowledge, and formally acknowledging those
nurse who meet all the requirements of the Rehabilitation Nursing
Certification Board through the use of the CRRN credential. Certification
is important in demonstrating professional expertise and qualifications to
the public, healthcare consumers, and to other healthcare providers.
Jack Buck states, “We are extremely pleased to recognize the
efforts of the rehabilitation nursing staff on their accomplishment and to
commend them on their commitment to excellence in rehabilitation
nursing.” |
