Physical Rehabilitation Services

The misfortunes that bring patients to us change their lives forever and greatly touch each member of our team.

We work closely with each patient to help them regain what they can to resume active daily living.   Many of our patients will work harder than they've ever had to work.  The hours may be long and the progress slow.

For example, it may take 52 hours of physical rehabilitation to regain the use of an arm;  three hours of speech therapy to reclaim the meaning of a single word;  weeks or even months to learn new ways to complete a simple morning routine of bathing, dressing, and eating.

Our team of specialists focuses on your potential, not limitations, and uses a progressive approach that addresses your physical, medical, and environmental needs.  Therapy services include:  physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, respiratory therapy, social workers, and 24-hour-on-site rehabilitation nursing care under the direction of a physician specializing in rehabilitation.

We are naturally very proud of our rehabilitation unit.  Our unit is a self-contained unit located within Crockett Hospital; therefore, we have all the support services of the hospital.  Our therapists provide hands-on therapy in our own Physical Therapy gym.  Some of our patients enjoy preparing meals together in our Occupational Therapy kitchen.  Crockett Hospital Rehab Unit helps each patient to reach his or her maximum functioning capacity before being discharged.

Each patient’s rehabilitation program is designed individually for the patient’s needs.  We provide at least three hours of therapy per day.  These three hours are divided among the therapies that are working with the patient. Three hours of therapy a day sounds like a lot, however, when this time is broken up in 15 to 20 minute segments, our patients tolerate it with ease.

Our acute physical rehabilitation unit opened March 1997.  We have ten private rooms. Our unit services the needs of people in our community as well as regionally.  Lawrenceburg is located in the southern part of central Tennessee, and we are the only acute CARF accredited rehabilitation unit within a 75-mile radius.
