Q: What
if I go to another doctor or hospital to have my surgery, can I come back
to Crockett for my rehab?
A: Yes, we have many referrals and admissions from
people in our community who go to hospitals other than Crockett.
Q:
What do I need to do if I want to come back to Crockett Rehab?
A:
You, a family member or a friend can call our admissions coordinator, Carolyn
Wright, RN at 931-766-3344 and she can get the process started or you may talk
with the discharge planner assigned to you when you are admitted in the
other hospital.
Q:
I have heard that Crockett Hospital Rehab Unit provides 3 hours of therapy
a day, can I do that much right after surgery?
A: Certainly, at Crockett Hospital
Rehab Unit each patient is evaluated on admission and a plan of care is
designed just for him or her. We
know that some patients need a little slower pace to accomplish their
goals. Also, the patient’s
therapy is usually in approximately 15-minute sections.
Our patients tolerate our individualized program very well.
Q:
Does my Medicare cover my stay at Crockett Rehab?
A:
When a patient is referred to Crockett
Rehab our admissions case coordinator verifies your insurance
coverage. If
your insurance is Medicare, she verifies you have enough acute hospital
days for your stay. Your
Medicare and/or Medicare with a Medicare supplement will pay on your stay
at Crockett Rehab just like it pays when you are in the hospital for any
other reason.
Q:
Will my commercial insurance pay for my stay at Crockett Rehab?
A: When a patient is referred to
Crockett Rehab our admissions case coordinator verifies that you have
benefits for the services offered at Crockett Rehab and she gets a
pre-certification or authorization for your stay.
During your stay should you need additional days approved, she
works with your insurance company to obtain approval for those days.
Throughout your stay, our case coordinator will keep you updated
regarding your insurance.
Q:
What if I need medical care while in Crockett Rehab?
A: Your medical care will be under
the direction of Dr. Sunil K. Jain while in Crockett Rehab.
Dr. Jain is a medical doctor who has specialized in rehab. While at Crockett Rehab you have access to 24-hour medical
services. Consults with
specialty physicians are available should the need arise.
Q:
Will my family doctor come to see me while I am a patient at Crockett
Rehab?
A: Yes, if
your physician is on staff, he or she may come to see you.
Also, Dr. Jain will keep your doctor informed of your medical
condition and any changes that may occur.
At the time of your discharge, our nursing staff will schedule any
follow-up appointments
Q: What
if I want a family member to stay with me while I am at Crockett Rehab?
A: A family member may stay
with you if that is what the patient and family wishes.
We make every accommodation to make patients’ family as
comfortable as possible. Many
times the first night or two is all that is needed to make both the
patient and family feel comfortable and assured.
Q:
What kind of atmosphere can I expect at Crockett Rehab?
A: Even though Crockett Rehab
in a part of Crockett Hospital, the atmosphere is more family-like.
Since we are a small unit we can spend time with our patients and
get to know them better. We
know that being away from home is stressful to both the patient and their
family, so our focus is to make Crockett Rehab have an enjoyable
environment. Also our patient
satisfaction rate is well over 90%. Many
times our patients want to stay longer with us than is medically necessary
stating that they felt like a part of a big family.
Q:
What do I need to bring?
A:
Bring daytime clothes, shoes with non-skid soles and other personal
grooming items that will make you feel more at home.
Pajamas may be brought from home or the hospital gowns may be used.
Q: Will
my family be kept informed about my condition?
A: Upon admission to Crockett
Hospital Rehab Unit, Frances Allen, Social Worker for Crockett Hospital
and the rehab unit, will come to see you.
Frances works with the patient, families and the rehab staff to
keep everyone involved in the patient’s care informed.
After team meetings, Frances communicates to both the patient and
family the plan of care developed for the patient and coordinates for a
safe and smooth transitions from Crockett Rehab to home. |
